My friend Coco loves Black and White Cookies (aka the interracial cookie). Recently (okay, it was like months ago, but that’s my how my timeline is) she came back from New York raving about them and how she can’t get them here. So I told her I would make her some. I’m going to give [...]

I found out about kale chips from Diana at The Chic Life. The first time she posted about them as a side dish and when she came to visit San Francisco, I asked her for the recipe. She gave me the basics: spritz some olive oil, salt and pepper and bake til crispy. Since then [...]

Just wanted to share this Asian noodle soup I made the other day. Had rice noodles and shrimp in it. It looks pretty. And it came out okay. But just okay. Given the effort it took to make it chopping things, I probably won’t make it again.

For New Year’s I wanted to do something special for the dessert. Using a Martha Stewart cake as inspiration, here’s what I came up with. The M&Ms are dark chocolate, peanut butter and pretzel. The 2 and one 1 are vanilla and the 0 and the other 1 are chocolate. The frosting is a simple [...]

Ing Mom came into town the other day. I had been begging her for Aunt Shirl’s Jam recipe because it’s the best. So even better than just e-mail it to me, we made it together. Two batches actually, but I only took photos during the first. Aunt Shirl’s Raspberry Jam Ingredients 8 cups of raspberries [...]

I’ve decided to start a new item called “Food Friday.” I enjoy posting about food related items because I find they are often somewhat crafty in sort of creating an edible craft. But I’d really like this blog more to be about sewing and crafts. So I’ll stick to doing food items only on Fridays [...]

One more quick post for tonight. I made shrimp stir fry (ingredients are below although I don’t have a picture of the finished item) and shrimp dumplings, both from Cooks Illustrated recipes. The dumplings are above. I think they look great. They were a bit salty (I’d leave out the salt next time) and crunchy [...]

I recently found out the beauty of making food and then freezing it. One of my favorites to do this with is chili. I found this recipe called It’s Chili by George!! on All Recipes and modified it to my liking.
