More French Macarons

Published by under Cooking

As previously mentioned, I’m obsessed with macarons. Here’s the latest batch: chocolate peanut butter, raspberry chocolate, chocolate with chocolate caramel and plain with chocolate caramel. This was my first time making chocolate meringue (with cocoa powder in the meringue) and I may have to tweak some of the cooking times or temperatures as they came […]

French macarons

Published by under Cooking

The fact of the matter is that I’m currently obsessed with french macarons. I did a macaron making party for my birthday. I made my macaron apron. I have more macaron fabric which I haven’t used yet. I love them. They are cute. They are tasty. The other weekend I made 5 batches (I only […]

Martha Stewart Baker’s Apron

Published by under Cooking,Sewing

Recently for my birthday there was a macaron making party because I love macarons and I like making macarons even more! So of course, since it was my birthday, I had to be dressed appropriately with a macaron apron. I found this fabulous fabric on Etsy. It’s cotton linen from Japan that is all […]

Organized spice jars make finding spices easier

Published by under Cooking,Crafts

Here’s a post that I’ve been meaning to do for a while. Had the pictures, but got waylaid by life. Better late than never! Spice jars are one of those items that always seem to end up a crazy mess. Partly it’s because the ones you get in the rotating ones never hold a full […]

New Year’s Eve Kransekake

Published by under Cooking

Time for a food post. For New Year’s Eve I wanted to make a cake since my parents were coming to celebrate with me. I decided to make a Norwegian celebration cake known as a kransekake because we all love the almond-y flavor and it looks cool. I had made one a while ago, but […]

Birthday Tea Party

Published by under Cooking,Crafts

For my birthday this year, I invited my friends to a tea party. Seeing as I was having a birthday party, I couldn’t very well not have goodie bags. The gold takeout boxes are actually leftover from the candy bar from my wedding over 5 years ago. I’ve kept them that long. I know. I […]

Jerk chicken meatballs . . . well the ingredients at least

Published by under Cooking

I was making meatballs the other day from The Meatball Shop Cookbook. I’ve been quite happy with this cookbook. The meatballs have been delicious. The best part is that most of them are super easy. You just toss all the ingredients in, mix them up and cook. It makes enough for 6 people usually, but they […]

Food Friday: Black and White Cookies

Published by under Food,Recipes

My friend Coco loves Black and White Cookies (aka the interracial cookie). Recently (okay, it was like months ago, but that’s my how my timeline is) she came back from New York raving about them and how she can’t get them here. So I told her I would make her some. I’m going to give […]

Food Friday: Kale Chips

Published by under Cooking,Dog,Recipes

I found out about kale chips from Diana at The Chic Life. The first time she posted about them as a side dish and when she came to visit San Francisco, I asked her for the recipe. She gave me the basics: spritz some olive oil, salt and pepper and bake til crispy. Since then […]

Food Friday: Asian Noodle Soup

Published by under Cooking

Just wanted to share this Asian noodle soup I made the other day. Had rice noodles and shrimp in it. It looks pretty. And it came out okay. But just okay. Given the effort it took to make it chopping things, I probably won’t make it again.
