Published by under Crafts,Sewing

Something happened to the original version of this post so I’m reposting. Sorry if you’re seeing it twice. Previously I showed how to make an LED dog collar in which I used LEDs that I had wire wrapped. Here I will show the steps for making a wire wrapped LED that you could then use [...]

Silhouette Sunday: Etched Low Ball Glass

Published by under Crafts,Silhouette

My second attempt at doing anything with my Silhouette was etching some glass. I really wanted monogramed glasses and now I can have them saying anything I want. I’ve got a tutorial in the works so you can see how I did it that I’ll post later this week. Update: I posted the tutorial.

Happy Hannukah: Day 5

Published by under Crafts

During the party, I wanted a bigger more present menorah than my little one. So I stopped by Cost Plus World Market and picked up these little votive holders. At Costco I found a set of 30 LED candles for $15 (including a whole extra set of batteries). So I put the ones with fake [...]

Happy Hannukah: Day 1

Published by under Crafts

For each day of Hannukah I plan to have a different craft to show you. For this first day, I have a simple wreath. There’s actually one on each side of the door, but they’re identical. I chose this one because you can see the mezuzah which hubby and I got for our wedding. Its [...]

Published by under Crafts,Dog,Sewing

Metal Casting

Published by under Crafts

And here we have the finished product! (set nicely against my new curtain fabric–there will be a post on that later.) I think the hamsa (the one on the right) is my favorite. It came out most how I expected it to. This post describes the steps to make these.

Visiting the Crucible

Published by under Crafts

For a team offsite at work, we went to the The Crucible. The Crucible is an awesome place where you can do crazy crafts like foundry (melting metal and pouring it into molds), glass working, blacksmithing, welding, jewelery making, neon and more. For our offsite, we did glass flameworking and foundry. Unfortunately, I didn’t get [...]

Letterpress Printing at Home

Published by under Crafts

So in this post I showed that I made a letterpress. It took me a weekend to make the letterpress but Sunday night I was able to do my inaugural print run with it. Here are the basic steps for doing a run: Ink the plate. Attach the paper. Slide in the plate. Pump the [...]

Yes, I finally did it. I’ve been going on and on about making a letterpress and I finally did it. While looking for invitations for my wedding, I totally fell in love with letterpress. It’s such a great combination of pretty yet tactile. I took a class on it and you can see the results [...]
