This version of the toffee came out better, but still not successful.
First I got everything together. You’ll notice I’m using a wooden spoon this time.
Then I started melting the butter and sugar.
Let it melt more.
Now we burn off the water and check the temperature.
This is far darker than it should be. This is burnt. But I decided to keep going anyways.
Pour onto silpat.
Coat with chocolate. Only coated part because I didn’t want to waste chocolate on toffee that already looked too dark.
Proof that it was indeed burnt: the spoon is burnt.
But it wasn’t entirely unsuccessful. It at least turned out hard and shiny. But it tasted really burnt.
