So I really put my bread machine through a workout this weekend and we also made pizza. We used Mitch’s Basic Pizza Dough recipe and made it in the bread machine. This is the one I typically use. Here it is:
- 3 1/2 cups flour (I use all-purpose unbleached)
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons yeast (yes, it’s actually 2 tablespoons–had to double check that one)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 cup olive oil (I use extra virgin)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Essentially you toss it in the bread machine (in the usual order–liquids first), put it on the dough cycle, take it out and roll it out, and stick it in the oven until it’s lightly brown (about 15 min). And that’s it. Couldn’t be simpler. I started using it because it was the first hit on Google for “pizza dough” and turns out it actually is pretty good. This edition of it ended up with quite a fluffy crust–I think I let it sit too long. Next time I’ll try just using half and keeping the other half and hopefully that will give me a thinner crust. But we don’t have a functioning freezer right now so I can’t really keep anything very long.
Anyhow, this is my pizza with non-dairy cheese (so don’t worry, Bubba, it’s still kosher despite the meat on it). Doesn’t the crust look beautiful? It tasted beautiful too–much better than the non-dairy cheese. I might just skip the rice-cheese all together next time.
