Risen grøt is basically sweet rice boiled in milk (we used lactaid for me). So, sorta like rice pudding. They eat it as an actual meal in Norway. Typically eaten as above with butter, sugar and cinnamon. It still tastes like dessert to me much as blintzes (which are a meal to me) taste like dessert to my husband. In its virgin state without all the butter and cinnamon (the way I prefer to eat it) below.
