ALSO,
There are now reports that the infectious agent in mad cow disease is showing up in olives. Due to the fortunately limited but well known practice of feeding olives pureed cow brains, the prion proteins responsible for this neurodegenerative disease have been showing up in the olives of various Greek and Italian restaurants. It is not yet known whether it is transmissible from olives to humans, but research is on going. Olive support groups have been established in the San Francisco metro area. -
