Decorative Seam to the Outside - Part 1 — Do a normal 5/8" seam, wrong sides together.

Decorative Seam to the Outside - Part 2 — Press open.

Decorative Seam to the Outside - Part 3 — Fold under 1/8" to 1/4" on each side of the seam allowance. Just make sure the two sides are even.

Decorative Seam to the Outside - Part 4 — Press and pin into place.

Decorative Seam to the Outside - Part 5 — Stitch close to the edge on both sides of the folded under seam allowance.

I took myself on some runs while I was in Norway. It was a great way to get closer to the natural beauty. The country is amazing and I seriously felt like I was in a fantasy novel.

Photodump from the royal dress exhibit at the National Museum in Oslo so you can see some of the magnificent details on the gowns. Pretty sure not all of the dresses were Queen Maud's as there were some from the second half of the 20th century (I'm seriously inspired by that pink 60s dress), but all of them were stunning.

While I was in Oslo, I *had* to go to the National Museum to see Queen Maud's wardrobe. I adore just about everything she's ever worn. I have a book about her wardrobe that I pour over for inspiration. I was not missing the chance to see some of her garments up close, in person.

The National Museum in Oslo has about 600 pieces from her wardrobe and about 20 pieces were on display. While I was a little disappointed there weren't more, I totally get that they probably rotate them to protect the delicate, antique fabrics. That being said, the pieces they had were so delicious. 🤩 So much detail. So much craftsmanship. I took pictures from just about every angle so that I could reference them when I get home. I even made my husband go back to the room again on the way out just so I could get some more time drooling over them.

Obviously I'll be back to see more as soon as I can 😍

One of my must-see stops in Tromsø was the @trollm

One of my must-see stops in Tromsø was the @trollmuseum Troll Museum. I fully expected it to be a tourist trap (though I was still excited to go), but it was actually a ton of fun! The exhibits wove Norwegian and Scandinavian history and stories throughout. They were kitschy but in the best way. There was also some cool AR stuff that was fun to interact with. Definitely worth stopping by if you visit Tromsø (and don't worry, it's in both English and Norwegian).

Last month I went to Norway and did my best to consume as many pastries as possible (these are just the ones I remembered to photograph). Not sure if people realize, but Norway's baked goods game is solid. I tried as many different types as I could but obviously someone else had a particular favorite. 😄

I have pictures of lots of other stuff, too, but I got hungry and remembered these.

This weekend I had a great time celebrating Romanc

This weekend I had a great time celebrating Romance Bookstore Day at @anovelaffairbookcafe !

On Saturday I stopped by their Book Girl Summer Analog Party. During the day, they had an array of activities including t-shirt printing with @weprintonthings (I got a tank top), delicious matcha from Coffee Lovers, and author signings. I got signed books from both @rrobinsonwrites and @staceyleeauthor . I love the fact that I get a chance to actually chat with the authors when I get books signed at the store. Both were so nice and I'm excited to read their novels!

In the evening, they had a DJ spinning '90s tunes (yes!) and it was BYO crafting. Naturally, I decided to start something new that night 🙃 There were actually a lot of other activities like tarot and a charm bar, but I got busy chatting and meeting new book friends.

And on Sunday I went to the See You at the Sunset event for the author @susanleewrites in conversation with @christinalauren which was a fun time. Of course had to get books signed by both of them. And meet several more lovely book peeps. Thank you @anovelaffairbookcafe for building such a great community!

One of the few signings that I did make was with @itsmonamay Mona May for her Clueless fashion book at the @insighteditions booth. Clueless was (and is) such a seminal movie for me when it came out, both culturally and fashion wise. It defined the fashion for that era. I have always been into sewing and costumes, but I have no doubt that movie started me thinking more about fashion. (Not to mention all the other movies she’s done like Romy & Michele, Enchanted, etc.)

Mona was wonderful to chat with. She was engaging and we really connected while she signed my book. Of course we talked about fashion, but we also talked about life and motivations 💖 If there weren’t people waiting behind me, I would have loved to talk to her even longer! Can’t wait to see what she cooks up for her upcoming projects!
