For my husband’s birthday we were going to go to his favorite Indian spot, but they were unfortunately closed (for “inventory” — we hear they’re switching management unfortunately). So instead I got to choose and we decided to go to a Chinese restaurant called Fu Lam Mum which had pretty good reviews on Yelp.
It seemed pretty authentic since we were one of only two non-Asian tables there. Plus, they had late night dim sum. I’d heard all about dim sum but never got a chance to try. So cool! Like tapas you get to order all these small plates and try a whole bunch of things. Of course, I ordered the weirdest things on the menu that I could find (except for chicken feet. I just wasn’t into that).
At the top of the page is egg custard bun. It was delicious and sweet. My favorite of the evening.
I also got the Fried Glutinous Rice Balls. They were filled with something sweet. Also very delicious even though I could feel my arteries clogging from the deep frying:
And finally some taro puffs:
The taro puffs looked awesome but didn’t taste as good. Just tasted like mashed potato on the inside. I don’t like mashed potatoes so I wasn’t a fan. Usually taro is sweeter. It’s one of my favorite bubble tea flavors.
The shrimp dumplings and soy noodles were also really good but less interesting for photos.
