I am not actually pregnant. Despite what this dress might make it look like. Okay, it’s not that bad in the photo, but trust me when I say I worked to find a flattering angle. I’m currently looking for a fast easy lycra dress — that also looks good. This is probably not it. (Not to mention a strong veto from my husband.)
It looks just like the photo and well, to be honest it’s not that flattering on the chick in the photo either. I imagine this dress will be very useful if I eventually do become pregnant. But as of right now, that’s not the look I’m going for.
I think the pregger look could have been avoided by doing the gathers at the waist differently. Most importantly leaving the gathers mostly flat in the front and gathered at the sides and back. Perhaps on my next attempt I will try that.
That being said, this dress was also a bit of an experiment in lycra with my serger which went quite well. I’m quite pleased with how the seams and edges turned out so I’m sure the next dress will be even better!
I have actually worn the dress out and about at this point and with leggings and boots, and it’s not so bad. Good for those days where I just really don’t want to wear anything constricting and don’t care what people think.

Just wanted to let you know that we liked your version of M6070 so much that we posted a link from our McCall’s Patterns facebook page. It looks very cute on you!

Hi there,
I really like this dress on you — I think it’s very flattering! I was looking for the pattern, and disappointed to find that McCalls has discontinued it! Arrrgh!

Margaret, I don’t think I’ll be making it again. If you want my copy (size 6/8/10/12/14), let me know and I’d be happy to send it to you.
