So I realize that I’ve been a total slacker in posting my running costumes. Because let’s face it — I’ve been a total slacker at posting. But look at this! 2 posts already this year. I’m a roll, don’t you think?
At any rate, this was a top I made out of some moisture wicking fabric from Mood. I had originally bought the fabric as a potential fabric for my Mal running costume but then the “test” fabric from Joann’s worked so well, I didn’t end up using this. I was excited that I had found another use for it for my Ariel running cosplay.
The patter I used was Simplicity 8634. The reason I picked this one was because I thought the back looked like a fish tail! Unfortunately, I never actually got to wear it for running. At least not yet. I finished it in time to wear for the first race I dressed as Ariel, but the armhole totally grabbed me in the pits. It may be because the pattern called for a stretch fabric and this one is not. But it first fine and flowy elsewhere. Well, there was no way I was running 6 miles in it so it went in the fix it bin.
And I finally fixed it 😀 In the photo above you can see I cut it way down. I actually love it when my running tops are cut super open at the arms. If I can feel airflow, even better. So, it will live to see it’s day as an Ariel top for one of these races 🙂
