Back to an older project for a bit. This one is the Seamwork Veronica made from a quilting cotton. Veronica is a simple dress with a waist and elastic at the back. It went together pretty easily. The instructions were clear and not many pieces. But I think I made a poor choice in fabric to be honest.
It’s not bad and these photos are taken to be flattering (of course), but it doesn’t drape on me the way it does on the models. I think it would be much better in a lighter weight fabric like voile or rayon. I like the overall shape, but I think I would make it without the elastic next time and just add side ties. In general, I prefer a more a-line shape so I might also do that. But at that point, is it really the same dress? Hard too say.
I think this pattern would also work for someone who wanted something put together for work that was still comfortable. But my work is so casual that I’m unlikely to reach for this as opposed to jeans and t-shirt on any given day despite the fun fabric I made it in. In a knit it would definitely be secret pajamas and I would consider doing that at some point (note to self . . .).
So I’ll store this pattern away for potential future projects, particularly the panel variations that they came out with later because pockets.
