I have some garment makes that I want to post, but first I want to wrap up my makes from our quilt guild retreat. One of the items we got was a little English Paper Piecing Kit from Paper Pieces. I’d never done EPP and these little kits are a great introduction. EPP seems like it would be really good to take on the plane, very portable, but I’m more of a crochet/knitter on the plane so I’m not likely to do it much. That being said, I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it!
One of the actinides was to not only make the paper pieced flower in our kit. With the help of my guild mate Michelle, I made this little postcard. I designed the inside myself and just printed it out on cardstock. I loved making the postcard. What a great way to use scraps! So definitely going to be doing that again.
We also had a kit for a bowl cozy in our goody bag.
The bowl cozy kits were all pre-cut for us using an Accuquilt Go Big die (Thank you, Bev!) which made them a fast, fun and super useful pattern. I use the one my friend Sonia made me all the time, so it’s great to have another one for my husband.
We also made charity blocks that will be assembled into a quilt later this year. I snuck a scrap of one of the fabrics I designed into the square on the left.
I finished off a top for one of my Grace Circle Quilts.
The theme this year was “camping” so they had all sorts of fun camp themed activities and goodies. One of those activities was a relay race which was quite fun even though my team came in 4 out of 5. The block on the left was made during the relay, moving as quickly as I could (I had my machine speed at 100% compared to it’s usual 30-40%) and the one of the right was made at normal speed after. The one on the right is definitely nicer — cleaner edges, smooth seams — but all things considered, the one on the left isn’t too bad 😀
And finally, I also finished up my gemstone mini-quilt which I posted a couple days ago. It was a really fun retreat. I got to meet and chat with so many people. Hoping next year to be able to make the in person retreat!
