This is my first finished knit top! I crocheted a sweater a while back, but this was the first non-hat/scarf knit garment I made. I’m really pleased with how it came out!
I did it as part of a virtual knitalong with Alison of Uncommon Threads and used Sami by Amano yarn which I also got from there. It’s a pima cotton which is so soft and I love it. When it went on sale, I immediately bought enough for a long sleeve sweater because it’s just so yummy.
The pattern is the Summer by ANKESTRiCK and was a bit challenging for someone at my knitting level (aka novice) mostly because it wasn’t clear until I looked at the other people’s pictures on Ravelry that there were little decorative stitches at diagonal, increasing part. However, since I was doing the knitalong, I could ask Alison for help each week. I didn’t actually finish it during the knitalong, but a couple months afterwards just because it was taking me longer than some of the other folks despite the lack fo sleeves. Even without sleeves, I had to do the cuff on one of them twice just to get the hang of that stitch pattern.
From a fitting perspective, it’s a very forgiving pattern because you can wear it snug or loose as I have it. It’s probably a bit bigger than I would have made it if I had known how big it would turn out, though that may also have to do with my yarn choice as I understand that cotton does end up loosening up a bit more than other fibers. So I’d probably do a smaller size next time, but I’m really happy with it and plan to wear it a bunch. Plus, I really like how it covers my “assets” so I’m more comfortable wearing it to work.
