This was a waffle I had in Belgium, making it a Belgian waffle. The waffles there are different than in the states, even though we call them Belgian waffles. The dough they use of there is more of a dough than a batter. It makes it delicious and chewy. And the chocolate doesn’t hurt.
I’m not really sure what these are other than knowing they are called profiteroles. But it was pastry and chocolate and good.
Like all the pastries I had in France, this one was amazing. You could really taste the pistachio. It was divine.
I haven’t seen real sugar cubes in a while. There were two in this little package which I thought was so cute. One of my French friends saw this picture and says, “Yeah, I guess you don’t see the cubes in the States that much.” He mentioned that’s mostly what they have in restaurants there,…Details
A nice healthy lunch of croque madame that I had while wandering through France. Very typical French though.
I decided to try the meat pate. It was actually quite good. We also learned that when you order “cheese and potatoes” you get cheese. And you get potatoes. It’s up to you to put them together 🙂
Saw this Tunisian bakery and the desserts looked scrumptious.
There were some interesting menu translations. Sweat pan cakes? I had one actually and it was delicious. Or perhaps you would like some cock stew? (Yes, I know that is the literal translation but for silly Americans it still sounds funny since I think the dish is technically made with hens, not roosters.)
Saw this adorable marzipan pig in the store and had to get it. He was filled with a chocolate fig mixture. And he was quite good.
